HIV transmission through sports Mar 9, 2003 Dear Dr. I was wondering what are the chances of contracting HIV through sporting events? Specifically,my boyfriend was playing basketball and got cut. However, he did not put a bandaid on immediately but nobody else was apparently cut or bleeding. What is the possibility of contracting HIV through contact with scabs, sweat, etc. Also, on average, how long after contraction does it take for an HIV test to test positive? Thanks, A.P. |
