maximum private insurance premiums cap?
Oct 30, 2002

My wife is hiv+, takes meds costing maybe 500 or 600 per month. She has both group and private blue cross inurance The private insurance was pruchased before diagnosis and never used to pay any medical expenses. She wants to leave her job to become self employed but is afraid the polciy is not suffucient for her needs. We are especially concerned about the lack of a cap on insurance premiums if we start using the policy. Any guidence on how to proceed would be greatly appreciated.

Response from Ms. Franzoi

Your wife is right to be concerned. The cost of an individual policy can increase, benefit levels can change, etc. However, this could also happen under a company-sponsored plan.
