|will STD tests impact insurance in the future?
Oct 30, 2002
Dear Doc, If I do herpes or syphilis or other STD tests using my current insurance, will it impact my insurance in the future? Will other insurance companies get the information from my current medical record? I know that they will if I do HIV test, how about other STD tests? I really appreciate your help and thanks again for your exellent work.
Response from Ms. Franzoi
If you apply for an individual insurance policy, you will have to answer a medical questionnaire which will include questions re various health conditions. Therefore, you would have to disclose the STD information. Legally this information cannot be shared with other companies without your written consent.
