|Insurance Co Disclosure to Company when applying

My start-up company with 20 employees is applying for health insurance for the first time. They selected a company with a broker, and provided applications to all employees. I accurately put on the form that i am HIV+. The insurance company called the secretary handling the paperwork, told her of the disclosure, asked for clarification whether I have HIV or AIDS. I stated that the information was accurately stated on the form, and reminded the secretary of my privacy. The insurance company subsequently called the CFOf, disclosed to her the information, and said that they didn't want to cover our startup unless i applied a separate individual insurance policy instead.
The CFO subsequently reported this to my boss (who she also reports to). My boss has assured me that the information will go no further.
My questions are as follows:
1. Did the insurance company have the right to disclosure in the state of California? Is there a violation of law?
2. Did the CFO have the right to disclosure?
I've tried to get so many different organizations to help me, but no one really has helped. Please, can you provide me with some information?

I suggest you contact an attorney regarding this. The insurance company did not have the right to disclose the nature of your illness to anyone at the comnpany, including the CFO.
