| Medicare vs. conversion policy Jul 25, 2000 I am receiving SSDI and COBRA. When my COBRA runs out I will qualify for Medicare but I can also apply for a conversion policy with my current insurer at that time. My questions are: Can I have both Medicare AND an individual conversion policy at the same time? ; Can my current insurer deny conversion because I qualify for Medicare? Thanks. |

Response from Ms. Franzoi
Yes. You can have both a conversion policy and Medicare. However, that could be expensive. You should investigate HMO's in your area that offer Medigap policies for disabled individuals. This type of coverage could provide you with comprehensive care at a lower cost. Lynn | ||||||||||
