|Employer switching insurance plans, what can they know?
Aug 1, 2000
First, thanks for the help this forum provides. It is really a great source of info.
My question is similar to a recent one posted, my employer is getting a new plan, my HIV status is unknown, I assume given your previous answer that I will still be covered because I have been covered for years and have had no break at all, much less 63 days.
The question: Is there any way my employer can find out my status as a result of switching insurers? I'd really rather they didn't know.

Typically if an employer changes insurance carriers, all employees who were covered under the prior plan automatically become covered under the new plan. There is no way your employer should be able to find out about your health condition as a result of switching insurance carriers.
