Aetna Health Insurance Small Group form
Jun 27, 2008

In the enrollment form on Aetna for TX Small Group business there is a section of Healh questionnaire and one question it ask s 9. Has any person to be covered had or has been told that they have an immune disorder, AIDS or AIDS related complex? What will they use this info for. Will it raise my premium and how do I find out if the cover HIV meds and to what percentage.

Response from Ms. Franzoi

In a small group plan, the insurance company asks many questions about health conditions, not only HIV-related ones but others. You should answer the questions honestly. Part of the reason is to determine what pre-existing conditions a person might have as coverage could be limited for that condition for a period of up to 12 months. What the plan covers will depend on the policy. Review the policy coverage information (often called a summary plan description) to determine the level of coverage for different things like prescription drugs, doctor visits, hospitlization, lab tests, etc.
