Denied for HSBC Life Insurance

I just applied for HSBC Term Life Insurance for $250k as previous submissions by people have said that an HIV+ individual could qualify but I was denied. The wording of the question is: Have you been diagnosed as having AIDS, AIDS Related Complex (ARC), or any other disorder of your immune system? I answered yes as I am HIV+. Is that the correct answer (I do not have AIDS). or is there another way to apply? I greatly appreciate your reply as 2 people have submitted that one can qualify.

I think you answered the question correctly. Have you asked the insurance company for the reason for the denial. If not, you should. However, I am surprised that someone who is HIV+ was able to purchase $250,000 of life insurance on an individual basis. I have not seen that happen. I have seen people who are HIV+ obtain coverage but it has typically been $20,000 or less.
