It is difficult to comment without knowing what your CD4 count, HIV viral load and underlying health is like. If your CD4 count has remained stable and is over 200, preferably over 300, you may not need HIV specific therapy. However, you should have regular clinical care visits. It is important to eat healthy and follow preventive medicine guidelines such as receiving vaccinations, getting labs and screening tests appropriate for your age. It is also important that you follow safer sex guidelines not only to protect others from acquiring HIV from you but also to protect yourself against acquiring sexually transmitted diseases. We also do not know if someone infected with one strain of HIV could still acquire a more resistant strain from someone else.

I would also encourage you to get involved with HIV support groups or AIDS Service Organizations. It keeps you up to date on what is going on in the AIDS therapy world. It also is encouraging to others with HIV to see someone like yourself doing well. There may be clinical trials for individuals like yourself which help us understand the natural history of disease. Not all clinical trails involve therapy. Many are laboratory or behavioral based studies. I hope you continue to do well.
