Hello Ms. Franzoi:
You had stated that it might be difficult for the retiree to get LTC insurance, is that do to age at which you apply or the preexisiting condition of HIV+ status?

Long term care policies are more expensive the older you are. Most insurers won't issue coverage after a certain age (often in the 80+ range). Also, the policies do require medical evidence and it could be extremely difficult to get coverage with a medical condition like being HIV+ which has a higher potential of leading to the need for long term care. However, you have nothing to lose by speaking to an agent re this. Contact some local agencies that offer long term care policies to determine the availablity and the cost.
