HIV is only spread through sexual contact, blood transfusion, or through sharing a needle with an HIV positive person. It is not transmitted through saliva, perspiration, or coughing. Many studies have shown that HIV is not transmitted amongst family members, even when they have shared food, drinking cups, or utensils.
