How important is it to be on meds if you are pregnant, viral load under 10 thousand and t-cells in the 300's? Are the chances of passing it on to the baby greater?

The risk of transmitting the virus decreases with decreasing viral load and is lowest when mothers have a viral load under 1000 copies/ml plasma. Antiretroviral therapy of mother and infant markedly reduces the risk of transmission and is recommended for all pregnant HIV positive women.
