Husband is HIV+
Sep 11, 2006

My Husband is HIV+, and has been for over 10years, his counts are low and he is very healthy. I have been tested and I am HIV-. We are in our late 30's and want to have a baby, is there a way a safe way?

Response from Dr. Sullivan

There is a way to conceive without having unprotected sex called sperm washing. This process may remove HIV from the sperm. After washing, the sperm is inserted into the woman through artificial insemination. (For more information contact www.duncanholly.com or www.columbiaivf.org.).JLS.
