|dosing schedule for 13 year old girl
Jul 28, 2006
we have recently been offered the chance to switch to a once daily dosing schedule for my 13 yr old daughter's med regimen. she has been taking sustiva once daily, epivir bid and abacavir bid. can you tell me if switching to the easier schedule would be as effective? we are ABSOLUTELY compliant always!
Response from Dr. Sullivan
As your child enters adolescence compliance will become even more important as she takes on more of the responsibility for taking her medications each day. A once daily regimen is easy to take and will allow her to interact in social situations where she will not have to be obvious about her medications. A once daily regimen can be substituted for her current regimen without changing her viral load or CD 4 count.JLS.
