| worried mom Jan 20, 2006 Hi, I am an HIV + mother of twin babies. I tested negative when I was pregnant. I only found out that I was positive 2 days ago, and up to that point, we would all bathe together. Being a single mom, it was just so easy for us to all get in at the same time. My son has little circular bumps on his skin that itch. His doctor diagnosed these as ring worm, but this was before knowing that I was HIV + and none of the creams prescribed have worked. I am so scaired for my little man. Can you please tell me how likely you beleive it is for him to have contracted this from me from normal mommy interations? I am getting him tested but not until monday, I didn't want to go into the weekend feeling so terrified. Can you offer any encouragement? |

Response from Dr. Sullivan
You have nothing to worry about; you cannot pass HIV to your infants while bathing with them; JLS. |
