May 25, 2004
My partner has HIV,he is 23 years old and i am 22 years old we have been together for years and only found out last year that he has it, i don't. We had previously talked about having children but now we are stuck on what to do next. Where do i need to look on the internet to go through the process? is there any hope at all?
Response from Dr. Sullivan
This is a difficult problem; there are centers in the world where sperm washing is performed to accomplish pregnancy in couples who are in similar circumstances; I would recommend that you consult an obstetrician/gynecologist with expertise in the care of HIV infected women; you can contact the Ob/Gyn department of the nearest medical school in your area and they will help you identify the appropriate physician; thanks, JLS.
