Recently, I got a cbc done on both my son 3 and my daughter 10 months. I wanted to know that if they had any signs of hiv in their blood would it show up on the cbc and would the doctor tell me then. Also, when you are pregnant don't they test you for hiv and other diseases when they take all that blod from you around your 5-6 month of preganacy. thank you for your help and may God bless.

Complete blood counts measure the numbers of red blood cells, white blood cells, and platelets in the blood. While abnormalities can be seen in HIV infection, the changes are not specific for HIV. If your children are at risk for HIV infection, you should talk with their pediatrician about specific testing for HIV.
