Yeast Infection in women.
Mar 21, 2003

hello, i have a strange problem. i get yeast infection very often (atleast once a month). i have been tested for HIV a couple of times and was negative. i also had a complete blood count with diff and it was in normal range. i have been getting vaginal yeast infection ever since i hit my puberty(almost 12 years ago). last night i had vaginal itching all night and i could not sleep. i also get vaginal yeast infection when ever i wear tight jeans or the day after i masturbate. (i don't use dirty hands or toys). i love eating sweet foods and i smoke. i have been treated only twice (once for vaginal yeast and once for vaginal trich. both times the infection responded to drugs very well but came right back after stopping treatment. i don't have diabetes or any other known health problem. i also have very irregular periods. please i need your help. i'm scared to death. thank you.

Response from Dr. Luzuriaga

With negative HIV tests, HIV infection is not the cause of your frequent yeast infections. I would urge you to see your care provider for a complete evaluation and advice on how to minimize your risk of recurrent infections.
