Hello. I started meds 3 months after i found out i was pregnant. i was put on viracept and combivir, after 2 months i could not get viracept so had to be changed to viramune (made in india) after about 10 days on just combivir. Just before starting the viramune i ran a test that showed an increase in cd4 from 74 to 144 and a decrease in v/l from 5.1m to non detectable. my questions are 1. what may be the fate of my child in the transmission of hiv and secondly with reactions to viramune and the now constant availability of viracept my doc wants me to go back to viracept, i have stopped the viramune for 4 days and been on just combivir because i learnt it stays in the body system for sometime before it wears out. 1. when will it be advisable to start the viracept 2. Do i have a risk of resistance to viracept my preffered drug and 3. would the change have any effect on my baby. Thanks

Presumably by now you are on viracept and combivir; this is a good combination and has been used a lot in HIV infected pregnant women without problems; as long as your viral load remains below 1000 copies your risk for transmission is 1% or less[ you have a 99% or greater chance of delivering an uninfected infant]; JLS.
