Antiphospholipid Antibody Syndrome
Feb 10, 2002

Could this, Antiphospholipid Antibody Syndrome, cause your immune system not to produce antibodies to HIV, therefore, a ELISA test result would show a negative result or would it come back with an indeterminant result?

It would be much more likely that antiphospholipid antibodies would give you a false positive or indeterminate screening test (ELISA) than a false negative test. If for some reason, one suspects a false negative ELISA then a western Blot and pcr for HIV could be performed but false negative ELISA are extremely rare. In fact most of the time, it is not that it is a false negative but that it is very early infection and the ELISA subsequently will become positive.
