   Response from Dr. Jackson

None of the drugs you listed have actually been shown to cause birth defects to the human fetus, but none have been studied well in pregnant women except for AZT. Sustiva, however, has been shown to cause serious birth defects in fetal monkeys and consequently has rarely been used in human pregnancy. AZT has been shown to cause cancer in fetal rodents exposed to AZT, but so far this has not been found in humans.

Crixivan does not appear cause birth defects in small numbers of pregnant women studied to date, but it can cause hyperglycemia in pregnant women.
