| New gel Aug 18, 2000 Hello Doctors. I started on that new testosterone gel, Androgel, 5mg daily about 2 weeks ago. I was wondering if I should feel any difference in how I feel now, cause i don't. Is it too short of a time? I know not many reports are out yet about about the gel, but, what about people who are on the patches with the same 5mgs, do they get the benefits in 2 weeks? Maybe I was expecting too much in a short time, but I don't feel any better. My doc. did tell me that the gel comes in different doses, should I ask for higher or just wait a little longer and see how I feel? I hate the thought of wasting my money( my insurance does pay half)Any suggestions? Thank you so much for your time. Ricky |

Response from Dr. Fisher
Yes it is too soon. Give it a month or so. Your doc can check your testosterone blood levels to see if they have increased with the gel. If not...then try the larger dose. I have started switching some of my patients from testosterone shots to the gel but have not had much (actually any) feedback yet. Alvan Fisher, M.D. |
