|Lipodystrophy or HIV

What do you think is harder to find a cure for, HIV or lipodystrophy? How long before you think there might be a meaningful treatment for lipodystrophy?
People keep talking about fat injections for facial wasting not lasting very long. Well how long is not very long? One year, two years?
Response from Dr. Fisher
First HIV has killed thousands of Americans and millions of people worldwide. Lipodystrophy has not. It is really important to keep this in perspective. We may never have a cure for AIDS in our lifetimes as viral infections have been notoriously difficult to cure. They can be treated (like HIV can) or prevented (like polio) or even eradicated from the Earth (like smallpox with mass vaccination) but cured...?
Re fat injections for facial wasting...don't know how long is very long. But if it works and then recurs it can probably be done again successfully. We need more comments from people who have done this.
