testosterone use
Jan 27, 2002

My testosterone level was 700 when I was tested. I am experiencing loss of muscle mass and my doctor will not put me on testosterone treatment to build muscle. 2 yrs ago when tested I was 1300. Should I be using testosterone as a way of preventing further loss of muscle.

Response from Dr. Dieterich

700 is a very respectable testosterone level no matter what your age. I would not supplement that level. You might want to ask your MD to check a CPK(muscle enzyme) level and a serum lactate to look for lipodystrophy. Good luck! DTD
