| Diptheria vaccination and Hiv Jan 15, 1998 Hi. After I had been bitten by a dog, I was advised to go for a tetanus shot. In the clinic after I had recieved the shot , the nurse informed me that they hadn't got any straight tetanus shots so they had given me a combined tetanus/diptheria vaccination. Viral load undectable, C4 336 - on Norvir,Azt,Epivir. Could the diptheria shot be harmful? |

Response from Dr. Gallant
The standard tetanus booster also has diptheria vaccine in it. Since it is a killed vaccine, it is safe for people with HIV. JG | ||||||||||
