zoloft and pregnancy
Feb 18, 1998

What risks to the unborn fetus are there when taking 50 to 100 mg.of zoloft per day?

Response from Dr. Murphy

Dear Zoloft Questioner,

Zoloft, or sertraline, is technically classified as a Pregnancy Category B drug, which is not too bad. Of course, no one knows for sure, but in the animal studies that were done, there was not significanly bad effect noted in those pregnancies. That is a good sign. Also, there must not be many unusual bad effects so far in women who have taken Zoloft during pregnancy or it would have been reported.

This should be discussed with your obstetrician in detail.

Good luck.

RM
