blood in stool
Sep 11, 2000

yesterday I had "two" bad discharges of blood. It looked like someone just poured a pint of blood into the toilet. Today it happened again. I do drink quite a bit. I'm really scared, and will probably go to the dr.s next week. But for now, thought maybe you could help. I don't do drugs or pills. Thanks for your help. F.W.

Response from Dr. Cohen

Dear FW -

I suppose I can help with one suggestion. Get to the doctor as soon as you can. Like now after reading this. Or even an emergency room. If you are bleeding as much as you think, then time is of the essence if figuring out what is wrong.

I can't tell what it is of course -- I'm a doctor, not a psychic. Someone needs to look to see where the blood is coming from. But I can tell you who to see. And when. And rectal blood loss can be minor or major -- and you need to find out which it is. So -- turn off the computer and call your doctor's office now OK?
