| Total WBC count and Primary HIV Jul 16, 2001 Hi Dr. Aberg I would like to thank you for contributing your knowledge and expertise to this forum, I really enjoy reading your answers. I was wondering if the total WBC would drop during the acute seroconversion illness. I imagine that it would be below normal given the fact that the CD4 count falls drastically during this illness. Your input would greatly be appreciated. Thank you |

Response from Dr. Aberg
Yes, the total WBC (white blood count) may be lower than normal in acute infection. This happens not only in HIV but in most viral illnesses. | |||||||||
