Home Testing Question, Again
May 4, 1998
Dear Dr. R Murphy:
You have mentioned in your previous correspondence with a questioneer that in your opinion, there are better testing methods other than the Home Access testing kit. My confusion lies in whether your vague response relates to 1.)Doubts about the accuracy of Home Access's ELISA test 2.)A preference for test at a clinic, where pre- & post- counselling might be available. If you believe there are better ways, what might you suggest? I just want to know if your preference for other testing methodology has nothing to do with the accuracy of Home Access in detecting HIV. Thanks.

Response from Dr. Murphy

Dear Home Test Questioner,
I stand by my former answer. I don't know what happens with a home test, how the sample was handled, mailed, performed, etc. There are too many "ifs". If it is the only way you will get tested, then do it that way.
