from australia
Jan 30, 2009

Dr McGowan,

greeatings from australia! One of my friend gave me a blow job( with a condom) and later another friend and me had protected sex, whilst having it, i guess my condom slipped, but when i removed to have a look at it, the business end was covered, thought a part of the base exposed...(Both were females)

I didnt se a burst, or a tear, so i assume the condom was intact! I know this is not the right forum, but any help would be appreciated, i am too worried!

what do i do now? is it a risk for HIV?

wishing you a very happy and prosperous new year

Response from Dr. McGowan

Thanks, and happy and prosperous New Year to you Down Under!!!

If the condom was intact the risk to you is negligible and you should not worry. Likewise the blowjob with a condom puts you ate no risk.

If the condom had broken, the best estimate of your risk (insertive vaginal intercourse ) would be 1 in 2000.

I am glad that you are using condoms. If you are still not sure about the break you should get an HIV test and remove the doubt (get a "baeline" now and follow up in 4-6 weeks and 3 months).

JOe
