psorasis and geographical tougue
Nov 30, 2008

Mu husband suffers with Psoriasis and geographical tougue i read in an article on the web 'www.hopkins-hivguide.org Ciro R. Martins, M.D' (I have seen a fair number of HIV-positive individuals with geographic tongue. I cannot recall having an HIV-negative patient with this condition) as you can see this is a very wide statement and of course has worried me, especially when it identifies psorasis as a sign. i never had this fear before i saw this.

Response from Dr. McGowan

Geographic tongue is not an opportunistic condition associated with HIV infection. There are many things that can be associated with HIV infection that occur in the mouth or on the tongue such as oral candidiasis, oral hairy leukoplakia, apthous ulcers, etc.
