| Persisten, severe rash Jul 21, 2007 I've been positive since 1990 and my T-cells under 100 for 2+ years. I'm on consistent meds and antibiotics. Since April 2006 I've experienced rashes that have included groin, buttocks, elbows, back of my hands; often severe and causing extreme itching. My primary physician has tried various creams, salves, antibiotics and even a post-surgery "numbing" cream to little effect. A referral to a dermatologist last November was not productive. The condition has worsened but my primary physician says it's typical of individual with my T-cell count and she "won't even pretend" to know the specific cause or any solution. I'm using cold packs at home when my skin is at it's worst, but there must be others who are dealing with this and have solutions. |

Response from Dr. Daar
Skin conditions in general are complex. Furthermore, it is impossible to make a diagnosis over the web. I must admit, some times despite everyones best effort it is difficult to correct these conditions. My suggestion is to try a different dermatologist and see if s/he has any other ideas. Best, Eric |
