lymphoma scare
May 21, 2007

Is it possible to diagnois lymphoma w/ only a needle biopsy? My partner had very swollen painful nodes under his arm, last month, most symptoms now gone, the 'refered to' doc insisted on completly removing the gland(s) Is this reasonable? sounds fishy?

Response from Dr. Daar

Sometimes a diagnosis can be made with a needle biopsy but other times it does require an open procedure. I would suggest you discuss this with your primary provider who can provide more insight in the context of your partner's specific case.

Best, Eric
