what really will happen to me
Feb 12, 2007

hi doc i was just diagnosed and they are doing a genotype resistance test im waiting for results. i am so scared because i hear about this resistant strain of hiv going around so what i want to know is if i have the resistant hiv starin what happenes do you just die. do they do multiple drugs as a booster. what about triponovir pleas if you can adress my question i am really interested and worried hope to hear from you soon.

Response from Dr. Daar

The overwhelming liklihood is that you will not have a drug resistant virus. But even if you did there are many treatment options and most people can be sucessfully treated. Perhaps by the time you read this you will have already learned that your virus is not resistant and you will be more at ease. Everything should be fine.

Best, Eric
