Jan 17, 2007

hi,i was recently Dx with HIV my VL 9885 and CD4 249 12% so i hate to say it but i have, cant bring myself to say it you know the "A" word. i am 28 y/o I dont do drugs dont smoke im not a promiscuous person, i workout 4 times a week, i eat somewhat healthy, i was started on Atripla after a geneotype was done. i plan to be compliant with my medications, i am a nurse and i know the importance of being compliant. BUT PLEASE DONT SUGER COAT IT, WHAT DO YOU THINK MY FUTURE LOOKS LIKE NOW THAT I HAVE ADVANCED HIV!

Response from Dr. Daar

Thank you for your post. Based upon what you have written you should do great. I would anticipate that your viral load will go down to undetectable levels, your CD4 cells will increase and if all goes well, as I would expect, you should be able to avoid any complications of HIV and AIDS. Obviously only time will tell, but I would be very optimistic. The most important thing is to take care of your mental and physical health as well as work closely with an expert provider.

Best, Eric
