| laryngitis 2 Nov 5, 2006 Hi Doc, Thank you for taking the time to answer my question on laryngitis. As a follow up. Her provider did do a test on her resitance to her meds and it came back fine. In addition she went to an Ear, Nose and Throat specialist. He found nothing wrong and sent her in to have voice lessons. She found this a stupid idea and did not go. Her voice came back on it's own and did not have to be retaught to talk. At this point her voice is back and we should her numbers next week. So, my question is do you have any other ideas as t what is causing the problems with her voice and the coresponding bad numbers. Thank you again for your time. |

Response from Dr. Daar
Thank you for the follow-up information. Without examining her I really would not be in a position to add anything to that of the Ear, Nose and Throat specialist. My general sense is that if the symptoms have resolved it is probably not something to worry about over the long run. At this point it would be helpful to know what her more recent viral loads have been, what antiretroviral medications she is currently taking, and what the resistance testing actually showed. When you say the results came back "fine" is that to imply there was no drug resistant mutations? Let me know. Best, Eric |
