My partner has been on fuzeon for about 6 months. Since starting the twice daily injections, he has lost most of the fat on his thighs and the injections became more painful so he has been using his stomach exclusively and the ISRs are becoming more painful and lasting longer. Besides his stomach, is there anywhere else an injection can be placed? Any idea when the new biojector will be available? I have a couple other questions: 1) If there is still stuff in the bottle after mixing with water, is it OK to refrigerate and then let the globs of stuff finish mixing the next day? 2) My partner travels for work and has forgotten a few times to refrigerate the fuzeon after it has mixed (he mixes 2 at night for the next day). In the event that he does not have extra fuzeon with him is it ever OK to use the ones that have been left out overnight? Thank you!

Hi, There are numerous other sites your partner can inject such as the back of the arms, "love handles", his back near the shoulders and really any place you can pinch up a little fatty tissue. It is very important to rotate sites over use of the same ares will cause them to become painful and nodular. Prepping the area with a warm compress, bath or shower is a good idea. Also a gentle massage to the area 3 to 5 minutes before and after injection is important to promote absorption of Fuzeon and reduce nodule formation. A hand held massager is a good way to get the job done.

Fuzeon can be mixed once a day (2 doses) but you MUST refrigerate the second dose. There is no assurance that an unrefrigerated dose will be effective. It is also important to make sure the doses are mixed til they are clear before injection. The second dose can be warmed 1/2 hour prior to injection by allowing it to stand at room temperature. If the second dose has a sediment (glob) and is refrigerated that is OK. Just make sure it is clear prior to injecting.

The Bioinjector hopefully will be available before the end of the year. I hope these suggestions help. A good idea is to revisit injection technique with the "Nurse Connection" a free program through Roche. A trained nurse comes to your home and shows how to inject and common sites are discussed.
