   Response from Dr. McGowan

One year after HIV infection it is likely that any acute symptoms, such as fever, rash, sores in the mouth would no longer be present. Swollen lymph nodes and fatigue (depending on the height of the viral load in the blood) may be present. Most people may not feel anything at all. That is why we call it "clinical latency". Before we could measure viral loads we did not know that the infection was very active during those early years. Treatment responses would be excellent if you stay adherent. Rather than guess, you should get yourself tested.
