Fuzeon - New Needles
Apr 22, 2006

You asked for comments about the new needles for Fuzeon. I have been using Fuzeon since it was first approved. The new needles for injection are much more difficult to use. They are over one inch longer than the older needles and the plunger is very long and flimsy. This makes it very difficult to self-inject. I never had bruising using the older needles, but with the new ones, I find it difficult to hold the syringe steady. Also, the green cover gets in the way when trying to reach difficult to reach areas. It is a bad choice and just seems like a cheap way for the company to reduce its costs at the expense of the patient.

Response from Ms. Salisbury

Hi, Sorry this response took so long. I just recently started at The Body. The new needles are probably difficult to get used to. The safety cover does get in the way. The other needles apparently had problems with the retraction device. It would be acceptable to substitute any small needle/syringe. The smallest ones that are available are used to deliver insulin to diabetics. This would probably be easier for you to use. Your practitioner could give you a prescription and your insurance would cover the cost in most cases. Hope this helps. Carol
