trying a new needle
Apr 21, 2006

I don't have a question ,but just want to address something.I've been on fuzeon(along with kaletra and rayataz)for almost a year now,and it's done wonders! My t-cells were around 200 and my VL was around 18,000.Now I'm undetectable and my t-cells are at 1,479.After about 6-8 months,I was running out of places to inject because my skin had gotten hard.I asked my doctor and he changed my needle to a smaller one(a diabetic needle, 30 gauge).I'm very pleased with the results. The new needle goes in so smoothly ,sometimes I don't even realize it's in!!I can even inject into the hard skin.So I would advise anyone having the same problem to change to a smaller diabetic needle, it's so much better!

Response from Ms. Salisbury

Thanks for sharing your amazing story. Patients on Fuzeon can change their needle size to decrease skin and subcutaneous (fatty) tissue irritation. The smaller needles used for insulin injections by diabetics are a good fit for injecting Fuzeon and minimizing the injections site reactions. Take care. Carol
