Biojector Gun

Hello my name is Steve I'm employed at an ASO in Canada BC. We have a client who is currently taking Fuzeon injections. He is living in a care facility and receives injections from a syringe daily. He is a former injection drug user, which puts him a risk of relapsing. Also the staff who provide the injections to him feel they are at risk pricking themselves with the needle. He is on fixed income and can not afford to purchase the Biojector Gun, are you able to recommend how we can have one donated. He has responded extremely well to the Fuzeon and I would hate to have him switch medication because of this.

Hi Steve,
The bioinjector is currently being studied to prove to the Federal Drug Administration (FDA) in the United States (U.S.) that it is effacious in the delivery of Fuzeon. Unfortunately, it is not available for purchase in the U.S. until the FDA says they feel it does not deter from Fuzeon's absorption. I was told by a company representative that the studies could take up to six months to complete and the company will submit the data to the FDA for their review. Hopefully with approval, the bioinjector will be available within a year. The studies were recently started. I was also told that the company has not made a decision on whether the cost of the bioinjector will be absorbed into the cost of the medication.
I hope insurances will see the merit of the bioinjector and approve its cost for administration of Fuzeon especially for someone with your client's special needs. I am not sure if the bioinjector is approved by the Canadian medical review system. I recommend asking your local practitioner or calling your client's insurance carrier.
