Why is fuzeon injected subcutaneously ?

I am just wondering why is the drug taken subcutaneously ? I relise that its a large peptide and these drugs are very fragile to be taken orally, too large to be via a patch or through the nose. How come its not given intravenously aswell?
Is it because the fat acts like a type of deposit site for a staggered release ?

The best response I can give you is that subcutaneous administration results in the best absorption and metabolism (and ultimately the best effect) of the drug. Other routes of administration either haven't been studied or haven't been found to be as effective.
