less of a life expectancy
Jul 21, 2007

If someone has karposi sarcoma but a high t cell count is their life expectancy any less than the positive person with same t cell count{9oo} but no ks?

Response from Dr. Daar

Thank you for your post.

It is very difficult to know since KS behaves so differently in each person. I would suggest you talk to your primary provider and perhaps a cancer doctor to assess how severe your KS is and what treatment options exist. For those with KS limited to small areas on their skin I would be very optimistic that this can be controlled in most cases with antiretrovirals and occassionally additional local therapies.

Best, Eric
