What are your thoughts on CSA-54

"CSA-54 is an experimental drug invented by Prof. Paul D. Savage of Brigham Young University. It claims to be the first anti-virul drug designed to hunt down and kill the AIDS/HIV virus. CSA-54 belongs to a group of compounds called Ceragenins (CSA's)."
I believe your expert's opinion on the subject would be very interesting to have discussed on this website

CSA-54 is a small molecule that has been shown to inhibit HIV in the test tube. Preliminary data suggest that it has a novel mechanism of action and may inhibit the initial interaction between the virus and the cell surface membrane. The hope is that if it works at the cell surface it may be difficult for the virus to ultimately become resistant. At this point the utility of such a compound remains highly speculative. Much work remains to be done in order to define how effective and safe it will be in HIV-infected people. Assuming everything goes right, it still is likely to be many years away from the clinic.
