Effect of Malaria on HIV POZ Jul 23, 2011 Hi Doc, I live in the tropics. Our regular ailment is malaria from mosquito bites. I ave it from time to time, kindly tell me the effect on my HIV positive status? Does malaria treatment deplete the CD4 count? Thanks a million. |

 Hello. HIV has an effect on malaria and malaria has an effect on HIV disease. I'll post a link below that discussed these relationships. It's important to treat both illnesses aggressively and to understand possible drug-drug interactions. Your HIV specialist should be well versed in managing these two illnesses simultaneously.
