| Sustiva on night shift Jan 19, 2005 Hello! I`m about to join a research about a new HIV drug. According to the protocol, I might have to take Sustiva. Here`s my question. I have read lots of thing about it and I know it`s a good drug but I`am a nurse and I work on rotation shift. I don`t mind taking it at bedtime but when I will work on night shift, what should I do? I can`t switch my meds schedule! Should I ask to get something else? Thanks |

Response from Dr. Pierone
Hello and thanks for posting. I have patients on Sustiva that work swing shifts they simply change the Sustiva dose to just before their new "bedtime" when their schedule changes. When they go to another work schedule they switch again. Sustiva has a long half live in the body so altering the schedule by 12 hours (and probably longer) should not make any difference. | |||||||||
