| Father, My Gay Feeling Will Go Away Jun 5, 1998 Father, I have been married for about 24 years. I have 1 child and have a responsible job live in the suberbs in Northern California just north of San Francisco. I have broken my marriage vows and have been with a few men who frankly are doing the same. I have these feelings that will not go away. I know I am bi sexual due to my desires. I am close to the church but the feelings keep coming although I try not to do these things. Please help me. Is This a Mid Life Thing? Will I be punished and burn in hell? I Love God and trust Him. Thank You Father for your kindness in reading this. Dick |

Response from Father DeMartini
Dear Dick---The feelings which you express so honestly in your note reflect care and concern--not only for your own well-being and salvation---but also for your wife and others in your life who might be hurt and confused as well. I suggest that you look for a counselor who could help you sort through the feelings and experiences you are having and help you reach a point where you can be honest and up front with yourself, your wife and others about your feelings. You may also want to take advantage of the sacrament of reconciliation in order to help you deal with your present pain and fear---I hope you might already know of a priest who would be understanding and approachable--if not, please let me know what area you live in and I can refer you to someone---including counseling. I will keep you in my prayers. Fr Rod |
