		Hurt by the Church Mar 1, 1998 I have been hurt by the Church who did not accept me being gay when I was healthy -- why should I think it would be any different now that I have AIDS? Jim, NY


		Response from Father DeMartini Dear Jim, I am sorry that you experienced any pain or disappointment from a church you placed such hope in. I understand that when we trust that love and support will be there, no matter what the circumstances, disappointment and anger can be deep and long-lasting. I hope that you will let me recommend to you several people in your area who, I believe, will be the embodiment of what Jesus called all of us in the Church to be -- in honoring that each person is created by God's loving hand and deserves respect and care no matter what their orientation or circumstances.
