La pregunta debería ser: ¿Cómo embarazarte de él sin que tú te contagies? El feto/bebé correría un riesgo solamente si fueras infectada.
En cuanto a tener un hijo con tu novio seropositivo, el método más seguro se llama "sperm washing." La esperma está separada de los fluidos y las células del semen que puedan llevar el virus. Entonces, la esperma puede ser usada para la inseminación artificial o la fecundación "in vitro." La esperma sí misma puede llevar VIH, pero la mayoría del VIH está llevada por las otras células del semen. Deberías hablar a su médico especialista en VIH de esta técnica y de su disponibilidad en tu área. Si no pueden utilizar "sperm washing," hay varias cosas que pueden hacer para minimizar (pero no eliminar, por supuesto) el riesgo:
1. Alcanza tu novio una carga viral indetectable y la mantiene por lo menos seis meses antes de mantener relaciones sexuales contigo.
2. Mantén relaciones sexuales con tu pareja solamente en los días fértiles.
3. Habla con su médico especialista en VIH de la posibilidad de utilizar la profilaxis pre-exposición (PrEP, en sus siglas en inglés). Es decir que tomarías un régimen de antirretrovirales antes de mantener relaciones sexuales para disminuir el riesgo de transmisión del VIH.
