elisa vs western blot

Tengo años con mi pareja con VIH, yo me practico el examen Elisa cada 4 meses y siempre sale negativo. Deberia hacerme el western blot? Que diferencias existen en ambas purebas?. Muchas gracias Doctores por su labor y espero su respuesta. Un saludo desde Mexico. Horacio

Querido Horacio,
No, el Western Blot se usa solamente como una prueba confirmatoria cuando el ELISA es repetidamente positivo. Un ELISA negativo quiere decir VIH negativo. Punto. Fin del relato.
